Surrey Build Group designs and builds loft conversions, extensions and alterations for homeowners across Guildford, from the town centre out to Shalford, Ash and the Horsleys. Local knowledge
Guildford's housing is as varied as its history. Below the castle and the cobbled High Street sit Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Charlotteville and Stoke, while Merrow and Burpham are full of 1930s and postwar semis with generous roof space. Several parts of the borough are conservation areas, from the town centre to villages such as Shere, and Guildford Cathedral on Stag Hill looks out over streets where careful design makes a real difference to planning outcomes.
Terraces here suit rear dormer lofts and side return extensions, while the semis of Merrow and Burpham are ideal for hip to gable lofts with an extension below. In the villages we often work on period cottages and larger detached homes, preparing planning drawings with local policy in mind and handling conservation area applications where they apply.

Many loft conversions and single storey rear extensions fall under permitted development, but conservation areas, flats and larger projects need planning permission. Applications for Guildford homes are decided by the local planning authority, currently Guildford Borough Council, and we prepare and submit everything on your behalf.
